Is it a good sword to "cut iron as mud"?
At present, the environment of swords all over the world is complicated, and there are endless swords of various schools. The most practical thing is to understand how to taste a sword by yourself. Today I will briefly talk to you about how to distinguish the quality of a sword.
The quality of a sword can be roughly considered from these four general directions:
1. Sharp edge 2. Rigidity and softness 3. Cold light 4. Ingenious decoration
1. Sharp edge:
In some ancient literary works, the sharpness of a sword is often described as "cutting iron like mud, blowing hair and breaking hair". In Tang Dynasty poet Pei Yizhi's "Looking at Quenching the Dragon Spring Sword", there is a description of "Lianhuasheng Baoe, the autumn day invigorates the frost. The quality is only three feet, and the hair is over a hundred heavy." The so-called "cutting iron like mud". Of course it is an exaggerated adjective (but there are also ancient irons whose hardness is very low. Some good swords can be used to cut iron. There is nothing wrong with this statement).
But Longquan can cut thin paper and break it. It can also cut straw mats and bamboo (with thin blades), and even some swords can cut copper plates and iron wires (thick blades). The benefits of Longquan swords are well-deserved, but all swords must not violate the physical principles. During use, there will be some damage, especially violent and unskilled chopping of some hard objects. Therefore, many people collect Longquan swords with great care and not easily. Cut hard objects to avoid damage to the cutting edge.
2. Rigid and soft
When many friends buy swords, the first sentence that comes up is that the hardness is not high, and they think that a sword with a high hardness must be a good sword. This is true. A good sword needs to have a certain hardness, but the hardness is only a small one. It’s just an indicator. If the steel sword has low hardness, it has good toughness, but it is also easy to curl. On the contrary, if the hardness is too high and the toughness is low, the sword is more likely to break. The traditional Longquan sword uses special ingredients and traditional compound forging technology, so the blade has good strength (toughness) and good blade hardness, that is, it has the excellent quality of rigidity and flexibility. It is regarded as a treasure by sword lovers.
3. The cold light is pressing
This item is a judgment on the embodiment of sword grinding. The poem describes Longquan sword as "white as frost and snow, and as good as autumn frost". The Longquan sword was drawn out of its sheath coldly, and its majestic cold light flashed through like lightning, enough to make people feel chilly. The grinding quality of the blade directly determines whether the inner quality of a sword can be displayed through the external phase. Grinding at the low end, the blade looks flat, but its fine metallographic microstructure is slightly rough, and there is no special charm. After high-end grinding techniques, the cold light of this sword is guaranteed.
4. Ingenious decoration
The decorative patterns are exquisite and meticulous, which is the focus of the artistic decoration of the exterior. Ingenious design and elaborate production. When using a variety of decorative techniques such as carving, chiseling, carving, and flushing. The copper exterior is equipped with copper clad, die-casting, wax casting and other manufacturing processes. There are auspicious patterns such as dragon wind, seven stars, auspicious beasts, flowers and plants, landscapes, characters, characters, among which dragon patterns and gluttonous tiger heads are most commonly used. The traditional Longquan sword's sword grid ornamentation is Jaizuo, because the sword grid of the Jaijuan pattern is so majestic that it adds to the deterrent power of the Longquan sword.
